About the event
The Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra's Winter Symphonies at the City Hall will take place on Thursdays 1 June, 8 June, 15 June and 22 June. The new season begins at 19:30 (not 20:00 as in the past) and pre-concert talks will take place at 18:45. The new season, which is conducted by principal guest conductor Bernhard Gueller, Arjen Tien and Brandon Phillips features a wide array of works from the likes of Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff and Mahler as well as the premiere of a new Violin Concerto by Matthijs van Dyk. The season places focus on the piano concerti of Sergei Rachmaninoff as we celebrate what would have been his 150th Birthday this year. Don't miss the stellar line up of soloists, including Jeffrey Armstrong, Emanuil Ivanov, MIke Wang and Dmitry Shishkin.
